hey! i'm selin.
second-year math + computer science student @ duke, interested in quantitative finance & edtech

water me!
i've loved building things for as long as i can remember. when i was 10, i started a slime business and spent years experimenting with products, marketing, and finding ways to turn ideas into something people genuinely wanted. that experience taught me creativity, persistence, and the excitement of creating something from nothing.
today, that same builder mindset shows up everywhere. i'm constantly working on side projects, exploring new technologies, building pcs and custom keyboards, and learning how products go from idea to reality. recently, i've become especially interested in startups, education technology, quantitative problem-solving, and hardware design.
outside of class, you'll probably find me cafe hopping, making matcha, attempting to dj, endlessly scrolling pinterest, or convincing my friends to join whatever spontaneous adventure i've come up with next. i'm happiest when i'm learning something new, building something ambitious, or surrounded by people who are equally curious about the world.

growing up with my autistic younger brother shaped how i see the world. from a young age, i became aware of how many people navigate systems that weren't built with them in mind, and it sparked a lasting interest in education, accessibility, and creating opportunities for others.
throughout high school, i looked for ways to translate that perspective into action. whether through debate, student leadership, community advocacy, or work with special needs programs, i became passionate about helping people access the resources and support they deserve.
for a long time, i thought law would be the best way to create meaningful change. but beneath all of those experiences was a broader curiosity about how systems work, how people learn, and how large-scale solutions can improve lives.

duke has completely expanded my view of what's possible.
i arrived as a political science major on the pre-law track with a math minor because i simply enjoyed mathematics. somewhere along the way, i realized math wasn't just an interest, it was the lens through which i naturally approached problems. i switched into mathematics, started taking computer science courses, and became increasingly drawn to research, technology, and entrepreneurship.
today, i'm interested in the intersection of quantitative thinking, education, and innovation. i'm involved in education research, neuroscience research, startup environments, and edtech, while continuing to explore opportunities in venture capital and quantitative fields. i'm fascinated by how data, technology, and well-designed products can create meaningful impact at scale.
more than anything, i'm excited by opportunities to build. whether that's research, software, hardware, businesses, or entirely new ideas, i'm always looking for ways to turn curiosity into something tangible.

my autistic younger brother has been obsessed with elevators for over a decade. he spends hours every day trying to find new buildings to try and rate/review the elevators. i decided to lift some weights off his shoulders.

my research team spent countless hours digging through papers and cross-referencing citations to answer routine questions. i built normlit, an ai research assistant that turns an entire paper library into something you can simply chat with.

sales teams often know they've solved a prospect's problem before but don't know where to find the proof. i built magicbox sales reference to instantly surface the most relevant customer stories, use cases, and outcomes for any sales conversation.
